Q6600 2.4 QUAD TEMP

Hi Guys,

Im using the above overclocked at 3.5 with an ambient temp of 52 when playing games this goes up to 60 with the corsair H50,

Are these temp ok for this cpu?

As far as I am aware yes. I have overclocked mine and although the idle is higher than mine the onload is lower. Mine has been running at over 70 since the end of 2007, so you should be fine.

I can concur.

Running mine @ 3.6ghz 24/7 under full load - temps around 70/71

Thats in a case with 3 x GTX260's full load - temps 78/80.

Ambient cpu @ 42/45

Yea it's fine. You have to bare in mind that i7 is 45 nm, while the Q6600 is 65nm...so it's only natural that it would be hotter.

An ambient temperature of 52c? I'd say the H50 is doing well keeping your Q6600 to 60 then.

What are you using to measure the temps and have you adjusted the Tjmax down? But has been said, 60 is fine.

he means idle temperature, I thought the same as you but knew there is no way that could be ambient

I need 1.51 bios volts for a stable 3.6. My Zalman reserator gets to 70c. Thats not a clock thats going to survive the summer, and I've been running it at 1.47 ish and 3.5ghz, Reserator peaking in the low 60s.

The Corsair H50 is known to be better than the fanless Zalman on peak temps, but whether 60c is a good result for you on a q6600 is mainly down to how many volts you needed to get it there.
