q6600 6x500?

Will the q6600 o/c to 500x6 to get to 3ghz? I know it does 333x9 but as I will probably be using pc8500 RAM I want to make full use of it!

You'll struggle to get a board that definitely does 500MHz with a quad at the moment. X38 based boards might be able to do it but they're not out yet, but will be in a month or two.

I was looking at the p5k deluxe which has a fsb rating of 1333mhz so surely that could handle 500x6? Or is that only feasible with a c2d?

My P5K Deluxe tops out at 480MHz which is about the norm for the P35 chipset. Dual core chips will do well over 500 though.

Highest FSB i have obtained with my P5k deluxe is 475 in windows with a quad and thats loweing the muliti knowing the CPU can handle the speed, fails orthos and prime at 475. maybe X38 will offer higer FSB's. there is a big diffrence between booting into windows to take a screen of CPZ and being 100% stable.

I like my overclocks to be 100% stable and have found the best i can get 100% stable is 3.52G 440FSB 1.1

when you see 1333mhz thats the ram speed if your ram can do it useing dividers in bios.

Hmm interesting, will the 45nm processors be released with the x38 boards or will they come afterwards?
