guys,
I finally got my PC up and running following a duff PSU issue, thought I would set it running overnight at Stock everything before overclocking to see if I had stability.....and within minutes Core #2 has failed ?

It has failed within 2 minutes.....should I nudge up some voltages, just to make sure its all got enough ??

Any advice ??

I have to be doing something wrong ??

You have too much voltage going through that chip for stock - 1.45v, according to your VID reading 0.15v too high as it should be at 1.30v. Your cpu is also running faster than stock. Your FSB should be 266 whereas yours is 272 (2448mhz) resulting in a 48mhz overclock as a Q6600 is 2400 @ stock, make sure your bios is set to default.

The Prime test you are running looks to be blend so as Jokester says, its possibly a memory issue. Ensure your are using the right timings and Vdimm for your sticks.

 just noticed the numbers .......hmmm that isn't what is set in the bios...I guess CPUz is reporting things way off....its actually stock volts...what ever that is...around 1.26-1.3V
As for the RAM I am setting 2.25V in bios....timings,...think I will try it all at Auto for a quick look see, something a bit weird there.

abits typically have a 2% out of the box overclock.
have you updated to the beta BIOS yet?

aye beta 12_b sucessfully flashed last week ;)

I will have to have a close look at what settings actually loaded following my PSU saga..I did think I saved the basic "stock" profile using the F6 key

ok, I have tweaked the mem timings a little but still core 4 fails blend after only 1 hour, closely followed by Core 0

Again, the CPU-Z volts figure is wrong, its actually 1.31v in bios

ok, I downloaded the latest memtest Iso: http://www.memtest86.com/ I think its version 3.4
burnt the image onto a CD and booted up Memtest.

Firstly I just let it go on its own...but this happened:

immediately it hung and rebooted on the first stick.:umm:

I thought I was doing something wrong, so I let it reboot into memtest86 and it did the same again, lots of error messages, followed by system reboot.:ahh:

Sorry they are so blurry...beer and needing fast reflexes don't go together.

Thing is I did this with the first two stick (I have a total of 4) but I just ran tests 5 & 8 on the next two sticks and they passed just fine on 5 & 8 but when the entire selection of tests start, it does this too ??

What on earth is happening ?
