You could even use the Thermalright Ultra 120 Extreme without a fan. It's silent obviously and still manages a better job than the stock Intel cooler. Don't think about overclocking though.
At idle/normal windows stuff, the Q6600 runs cool until over 80% load which is rare, so why not run a capible fan on 'legacy/voltage', then when under load the fan will spin up & keep it cool.
