Q6600 AND quiet?

Hi,

I'm building a audio based PC with a Q6600. What is the best cooler to go for? It needs to be ultra quiet as well as keep the Q6600 cool.

I have the Gigabyte DS3R mobo.

Noctua or Thermalright w/ S-flex fan

Or AC Pro 7 if needed cheap.

You could even use the Thermalright Ultra 120 Extreme without a fan. It's silent obviously and still manages a better job than the stock Intel cooler. Don't think about overclocking though.

I'm not going to overclock straight away I would prefer to "future proof" so would prefer to add the fan now.

Would you say the S-flex is the quietest?

The S-Flex fans are very quiet, though not necessarily the 1600RPM version, you might want the 1200RPM version instead.

At idle/normal windows stuff, the Q6600 runs cool until over 80% load which is rare, so why not run a capible fan on 'legacy/voltage', then when under load the fan will spin up & keep it cool.

AC7 pro can't be beaten for the price when at low RPM it still cools well and is silent.
