Anyone know if the tuniq tower will be enough to cool the beast that is the quad core? My noctua (92m) simply can't handle it and i get quad prime temps hitting 80c, thats at 3ghz on stock voltages.

A tuniq will shave off a tiny bit... 80c? :o

What are you using to measure temps?

Using TAT and coretemp. After a few mins of quad prime the temps look like this

77 77 72 72

And before its asked, the heatsink is making good contact with the IHS, i remounted it yesterday and the thermal residue was a perfect square with no gaps.

ok well using TAT ** seeing the temps of the core's which i like to keep below 70c... Have you tried Speedfan?

Not tried speedfan. Dont think it would make much diff though.

Speedfan will report the temps from the bios... which I generally find will tell you the actual temp of the CPU and not the cores.

Its showing similar temps, 73'ish

I'd say your about 13c above what you should be... Hmmm... Have you checked your IHS to see if its flat? and also check your heatsink to see if its flat?

Havn't actually inspected them but as i said above when i remounted the hsf the residue was a perfect square with no gaps so it seems its making perfect contact.

It will be interesting to see how the TT will cools the Q6600 (is the revision you have is B3?), hopefully it will give a respectable temp with the G0 revision. :)
