Hi im sorry if this has been asked before but I thought it would be good to have all this info all in one post.

1.What is a safe max temp range for the Q6600 {B3} ?

2.What is a safe max v-core for the Q6600 {B3} under WC ?

3.How much do GO Q6600 run cooler than B3 Q6600 ?

4.What MB is best for o/c Quads ?

Thanks

1) I'd say anything upto around 75-80C under load.

2) Anything you like as long as you keep the temperatures under what I said above. You'll hit those temps long before you damage the chip with too much voltage.

3) Depends on the setup, but they do overclock better generally, with less voltage and lower temps. If you're buying new they're well worth the extra.

4) Any of the P35/X38 based boards, with obviously the X38 ones being the "best".

I've had my B3 Q6600 up as far as 3.3Ghz with a little tinkering on an Abit IP35 pro - although it wasn't orthos stable at that speed - however games seemed to play fine ... no crashes etc

3Ghz is a sweet spot it seems and to be fair i'm more than happy to stick with that - under load it only hits about 60-65 using the Noctua NH-U12F :)

I'll have to see how the 45nm Quads do on this board next year and then I might think about moving over but this has more than enough grunt for me at this moment in time!

My B3 stepping does 3.2GHz 24/7 (see sig) Prime and Orthos stable.

Vcore is 1.4, Mem 2.2v, 9 x 356 and temps idle are around 46-51c and never go over 62c load with my Scythe Infinity.

Running mine at 3.5ghz under water with 1.47v in Windows (1.5315 in BIOS) and I top out at ~70c when Priming.

Ive yet to see any proof of that and some say they overclock the same or worse. I beleive the x38 boards run hotter and so may not be as stable.

The quotes were meant to denote a loose usage of the word "best" - on paper the X38 beats the P35, however in practice the results are more variable. :)
