What would people recommend as air cooling for this at the moment, I'm about to get one and concidering the artic freezer 7 but haven't been paying much attention to cooling recently and not sure if anything better is out

(air cooling only btw)

please advise... :)

I've got my q6600 ordered, and i've got a BigTyp for it - from what i've read it's the best performing cooler in the price range (£28ish i think from oc?)

Just looks a bit more substantial than the AC7

I got the BigTyp for my 6320 which is currently sitting at 3.2Ghz and temperatures are in the low 40's under load.

I've been mighty impressed with it for the price.

I guess it depends how far you want to overclock...
I use a Freezer 7 Pro and it's been fine up to 3.0GHz in my testing, although I run at stock anyway. If you have really good case cooling you might be OK up to about 3.2, and it also depends what level of temperature you are actually comfortable with - and that varies person by person

That's made me feel better now, i'm hoping to get around 3ghz on it ;)

EDIT: @Biffa - I just tried to PM you but it didn't let me? I might be overlooking an announcement or somthing about postcount for PM but anyway in regards to the weight of the BigTyp, do you feel that it doesn't like "overload" the motherboard in a vertical mobo arrangement?

well my cpu that I have at the moment is sat at 32 deg C fairly idle, which I'm comfy with, I don't really overclock a lot, just want the lowest temps available to help extend lifetime of components/not cause problems

PM's dont work :)

I've got it vertical in a CoolerMaster CM201 without any issues. I don't move it round much :) It seems very solidly positioned and it wasn't as heavy as I thought it would be, but it is *massive*

I've got a TR-U-extreme 120 on a Q6600 stock idles at ~32, load upto 45c.

I've just ordered same CPU and heatsink as you. Ive also ordered noctua 120 fan for it.

What you clocking your CPU GHz wise?

TR-U-extreme 120 here. Currently running Q6600 @ 3.2 44deg idle, not had a chance to load, been busy with work & system still needs setting up.

Will post results when I get a chance.

Temps taken with CoreTemp
