Q6600 Cooling

Hello all sorry if this has been asked i have done a little reading on the forums im looking for a cpu cooler for my Q6600 i was going to get a Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro but after reading here

Im a little unsure which cooler to go for
My case is a Lian-Li PC-7B PLUS II and i have a Gigabyte mobo DDR2/DDR3 Im looking to overclock at some point and the current cooler i have installed is a http://www.arctic-cooling.com/cpu2.php?idx=92

Both the cpu and the cooler have been lapped and the temps at idle are 47 degrees i haven't loaded the cpu up yet tho and that's a stock.

Any help would be appreciated

Thanks for that can you tell me if the AC7 clips into the mobo like the standard Intel heatsink as i dont get on with that sort of clamping system :eek:

Believe you can get an artic 7 that uses a screw in mount?

Mine is an after market cooler if you look in my first post

I think 47 degrees at stock with cooler and cpu lapped is high or am i wrong

what cooler would be next up from and AC7???

In that case mine at stock is a little high me thinks

which makes me think my cooler isn't up to the job.

Thats not great at all for a below stock chip, i run my Q6600 @ 3.6 and idle temps @ 3.6 is less than yours, under load with Crysis it hits around 45...

Look for the OCZ Vendetta 2, a great cooler that is on par with the more expensive Tunic tower and True 120, but half the price (not available from OCUK).

Thanks mate will have a look for one did you lap your OCZ Vendetta 2 and CPU.

Hi mate yeah i did end up putting a true cooler on this one with out overclocking the cpu and the temps dropped to 30's so it was my cooler.

The Kandalf also has a huge 25cm fan blowing directly on to the cpu/ram area also so that helps.
