Hello all sorry if this has been asked i have done a little reading on the forums im looking for a cpu cooler for my Q6600 i was going to get a Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro but after reading here

http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?t=17898492&highlight=q6600+cooling&page=2

Im a little unsure which cooler to go for
My case is a Lian-Li PC-7B PLUS II and i have a Gigabyte mobo DDR2/DDR3 Im looking to overclock at some point and the current cooler i have installed is a http://www.arctic-cooling.com/cpu2.php?idx=92

Both the cpu and the cooler have been lapped and the temps at idle are 47 degrees i haven't loaded the cpu up yet tho and that's a stock.

Any help would be appreciated

Thanks

Mine is an after market cooler if you look in my first post :):):)

I think 47 degrees at stock with cooler and cpu lapped is high or am i wrong

what cooler would be next up from and AC7???

Thanks

Ok just got in here are the temps at rest stock voltage.

and here is the cpuz read out

And for good measure the lapped heat sink...

Your chip is using speedstep to drop the speed when at idle to save energy and heat, yet your idle temps is 50c ???

Thats not great at all for a below stock chip, i run my Q6600 @ 3.6 and idle temps @ 3.6 is less than yours, under load with Crysis it hits around 45...

Look for the OCZ Vendetta 2, a great cooler that is on par with the more expensive Tunic tower and True 120, but half the price (not available from OCUK).

Thanks mate will have a look for one did you lap your OCZ Vendetta 2 and CPU.

I have a Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro cooling a q6600 too, whilst the performance is ok and a lot better than the standard intel heatsink I wish I'd gone for something about more heavyweight such as a TRUE as temps tend to get a bit high at times (into the 60's)

What would you have gone for mate.

Im the new owner of this chip from craigius.
Im hoping not to have to spend 46quid odd on a true as i already have exceptional case cooling in a thermaltake kandalf super tower and right now have my 8800gtx cards @ 42c and 49c and an E6600 clocked @ 3.5 with 1.5v going through it, high i know but each core right now idle at 24c,23c and
42c,38c at load. cooled with ac7 and as5 paste. Hoping to get this q6600 to 3.5 without much trouble as its also now lapped. Also got noctua nc6 and evercool on my chipset also at 44c, 43c:D

The Kandalf also has a huge 25cm fan blowing directly on to the cpu/ram area also so that helps.

Hi mate i dont think you will have a lot of problem with it could you post a pic of your current set up......
