hi my q6600 cores on idle are 50-52 is this too hot or ok im using a asus silent square pro for cooling whats the threshold for the quad 6600

i would say thats quite high for idle, should be around 40 idle if your running it at stock volts and speed ect.

i think the threshold is 100c for the quad core so im hoping that 50 ish on idle wont make much difference if i was getting 40c thanks for your reply

what cooling have you got?
im using asus silent square pro on full speed. the four cores are 50-52 idle according to the program core temp, but ive read somewhere on google that the threashold is 100c my room is very hot as the pc is in the same room as my airing cupboard

Before everyone starts making suggestions, perhaps you hould answer these questions:

1. what speed is the CPU running at?
2. what is the Vcore set at?
3. most importantly, what are your load temps?

This guy thinks this temp is legit on the abit forums on a tuniq tower i think he's an Eskimo.

Mine does 3.6Ghz @ 1.475 Thermaright 120 extreme with 2 x noctura 1200 fans in push pull with noctura front in-take and exhaust

temps (via Core temp 0.94.5)

idle 32.26.24.32 (coolish morning in the UK)
load (prime blend) 58.55.57.57

the HS is lapped a little but not mirror and the cpu is stock (not lapped at all - yet)
