just got myself a decent mother board, for overclocking my q6600.whats the highest speed i need to max my gtx260 out.i was thinking arround 3.200ghz.if i go higher will i see any more fps in games, when i run 3dmark06 i dont see any more frames from 3ghz to 3,200ghz.

I ran a Q6600 at 3ghz and an Asus Top GTX260 (overclocked out the box job) and i am pretty sure at 3ghz i saw the best it had to offer in games. In my opinion 3.2ghz would definitely cover it.
I did run at 3.2ghz for a short time but saw no real benefit so dropped it back down to 3ghz.

thinking same thing, ill drop back to 3gig,better temps,
but why do some have this chip oclocked to 3,600ghz.

It depends what you use it for or how you use it. Low resolution, games would be CPU limited so you'd consistently see FPS rises as you increase the clock. At higher res, games are GPU dependant so CPU clock doesnt matter that much.

For video editing etc, 3.6 would be massive improvement over 3.0.

It's all relative dear *pipe in mouth*

400x9 syncs nicely with my memory/fsb, I was lucky though and my chip does that speed with minimal volatage and temp increases. Honestly though any quad core at 3ghz+ is going to power through games.

I can see the difference between 3.0 and 3.4/3.6 in BF:BC2, I run at 3.4 as I can't see the advantage of the extra 200mhz.
