Hi,
I've currently got a Q6600 running at 2.4Ghz stock speed, I'm just wondering if it would be worth selling my Q6600 as i've seen them on members market going for around £90. and then picking up the E5200 which is £52 and stock speed of 2.5Ghz.

Mainly using it for gaming and music/ general use.

you wouldn't notice any difference. If you are looking for more performance start by overclocking the quad to 3+ghz

Well if you don't care about 4 cores then do it..but some games are starting to use quads such as RE5. If you downgrade to an E5300 you will probably just start saving up for a yorkfield.

...but if it allows you to buy a 5870 or something then go for it, the GPU is far more important than the CPU these days.

If you look around you can get a 2.8Ghz E6300 Pentium Dual core for the same price. I have one currently clocked at 4Ghz in my second pc and it's a better clocker than my E5200 was. It's still a 45nm Wolfdale core.
