Can someone tell me what's so different about the energy efficient q6600, ie why it's energy efficient and why it's cheaper than the regular. Does it compromise speed or reliability or something. Because getting the better of two products for less money seems odd to me.

All new Q6600's should be the energy efficient 95w G0 stepping ones.

The only way you would get one of the older ones (B3) is if buying 2nd-hand, and even then there's plenty of the G0 steppings to choose from.

And the newer G0 is better than the old B3 version in every way.

As said, all new chips are G0 stepping. They use less volts vcore than B3 stepping, so they will generally overclock more, as temps will be lower.

No idea why that one's so expensive. May be been there so long that they've forgotten to cut its price.
