Have the chance to buy a Q6600 G0 SLAR cpu off a mate at a good price, the Energy Efficient one.

Do you think this will be a good clocker?

I see most posts say you should get 3.4Ghz no probs, and hoping for 3.6+ under water.

Cheers guys

lol. Sarcasm works less efficiently online guys! Though they are fantastic clockers I'm about to buy one myself!

Do reveal the cheap price you get it for though...

Until the whole 45nm electron migration degradation thing is worked out I'm sticking with these as they clock like crazy and as long as you can cool it you can put as much voltage as you like through it with no danger of it dying on you.

I wonder if there's anyway of finding out which batch is being sold. Mind you that might just be the whole stock OC'd chips... Such a pot luck draw lol.

i have one, it clocks to 3.6 @ 1800fsb on a 8x multiplier,

however i'm running it at 3.0 @ 1350fsb at 9x with 1.4vcore as it's nice and cool on air!

i'd say go and get one!

Cheers guys, thought it would be ok but always best to check!
He has told me I can have it for £80 :D

With what I think I could get for my E6600 should be a nice cheap upgrade!

Just hope the VID is low, has a big baring on how much it will overclock. i.e. on my system the same chip could get 3.8ghz or as low as 3.3ghz, depending on VID.

Still, you're pretty much guaranteed at least 3.2ghz with average cooling.

For £80 it's a no brainer! You're 99% guaranteed 3ghz, with 3.2 - 3.4 highly likely. If you're lucky you may get a 3.6+ chip. I've managed 3.6 on 1.35v so I'm well pleased. It will go higher, but the increase in vcore and heat isn't worth the extra mhz IMO.

All the 95w ones are G0's
All the SLACR are G0's
Avoid 105w ones - they are B3's and run very hot and dont clock as well.

I'd definitely dis-engage the brain for 80 notes.

The only problem you might have is that you may not notice that much of a diff between the quad and your dualie to be honest in everyday use.

damn so many threads on overclocking the Q6600, so i grew some balls and overclocked mine even more (was at 3.4ghz stable). Am now at 3.6ghz (stable altho prime not been running too long) Volts (real) is at 1.45v. Idle temp is 39C on a Tuniq Tower 120mm. I think i am happy with 3.6ghz :P

Sure get it there, got my friend's to 3.5ghz on first try, stable for 8 hours no problems, didn't have time to get it higher but i love those chips. Hate intel for not making a better 9xxx series, could have been great.
