I've not got around to lapping mine yet, even though I do all my chips.
I thought I would start this thread to help others decide if they wanna do theirs.

Can you all report back on the details listed below?

Cooling (Named hsf/Waterblock)
Temps before lapping (4 core stress)
Temps after lapping (4 core stress)
Clock Speed
Vcore
m/b temps

If I've missed something please shout up.

Superb results, tell me, did you lap your D-tek?

I did mine, and it only took about 5 mins before it was flat

Well I did it!

I went into bios and increased the vcore for testing.

Pre lapping

3.6 ... 9 x400

1.5 in bios, real 1.47, underload 1.45

10 mins of prime

cpu reached 72
core using core temp 68.67.62.62

After lapping same vcore and same 10 mins prime

cpu reached 68
66.65.60.60

so, not a lot really, but mx-1 takes 24-48 hrs to bed in, so I do expect it to drop again

Set the cpu back to 1.45 real 1.41 drop 1.39

cpu 62-64
core 59.58.54.54

So there is a slight drop

its called ocuk for a reason ;)

and overclocking doesnt kill chips, its putting stupid voltage into it that kills it.

Thats so true, I've never had a chip fail o/c, but I do agree more volts more chance of the chip dying.

hey i'd be bitter too if i did my warranty for 3c :)

i don't think there's really any need for lapping the G0's unless you have extremely high temps and obviously a bad ihs

and i certainly wouldn't lap a water block like some here, all your increasing is your stupidity and the almost certain possibility of higher temps.

In the overclocking world, 3 degrees is a lot

I'm rather quite chuffed with the results. I might try for 3.6ghz this weekend :D

Very good results mate.

Hi guys, after reading about the temp advantage you get from lapping i think i will give it a go but a question that may sound silly...

How do you know when to actually stop rubbing as to not damage the cpu?? is it a case of sanding it until its all the same colour which would indicate its flat ???

I know it may seem like a silly question but one I thought I better ask before destroying a £200 cpu :)

When all the cpu has changed to copper, then it's done mate.
