just fitted a lapped Q6600 GO and its running a bit too warm for my liking at idle temps!

got it clocked to 3.2Ghz and using a Freezer 7 pro

my mobo is a P35 DS3P rev 1.0 and it has a huge NB heatsink which gets in the way of the freezer sitting down properly

ive had to seat it so the fan is pointing downwards! - not ideal i know

anyway ive ordered a Tuniq Tower now, so i hope it cools it down a little more

what else could it be? should i lower the Voltage? (the settings for power are set at stock)

case is a Antec P182 with the stock 3 case fans on low

trouble is, ive had to fit the freezer so the fan is pointing downwards cos the Ds3P i have has a NB heatsink on it which gets in the way of the freezer sitting down properly.

plus i am using AS5 aswell

im feeling that the heatsink isnt sitting down on the cpu tight enough, even though the heatsink is solidly in.

had a E6550 on it before using the freezer and was getting very good temps - Oc to 3Ghz

changed to a Q6600 and temps all over the show!

anyway,. il wait till tomorrow for my Tuniq to arrive, then will see how that performs

could the cpu it self be faulty in anyway? i got it 2nd hand and had been pre lapped, you reckon it being lapped the freezer doesn't sit on it properly?

yeh, the tuniq will be mounted in a proper direction (cos it has some clearance over the NB heatsink)

the case cooling is spot on, 3x 120mm fans so it should be cool.

i have a feeling that coretemp is reporting wrong temps

im pretty sure the bios temps were much lower in the lower 40s!

im using Bios F3 on the DS3P - you reckon i should update it to the latest one?

My mobo is also a P35 DS3P rev 1.0 with artic freezer and l had no problems facing it the right way, towards back of case.

weird, theres no way i can see the freezer sitting down properly against the NB heatsink. Mine always touches :(

right, just checked bios and it displays 40C at 3.2Gz

coretemp says 55C

so not sure what is happening there!
