Hey Guys,

i hope i can pick your brain's, im having abit of truble overclocking my Q6600 G0 with a VID of 1.2875v.

My pc specs are Q6600/asus maximus formula se/Corsair XMS2 4GB (4x1GB) DDR2 6400C4 TwinX Dual Channel

I can get it to 3.6ghz but only with 2x1gb of ram but not with 4x1gb and im not to sure about what Volts i sould be using,

right now im at 3.2ghz with 4x1gb in there with a vcore of 1.328v in windows and the rest on auto if that helps anything,

any help would be great

Try raising NB volts if it's struggling with more RAM. Be wary of NB temps though, the cooling on the SE version is actually poorer than the normal maximus formula due to it having a waterblock, not a dedicated heatsink.

Can you post your bios screens please? Especially voltages. These should not be left on auto.

As above, NB will prob need a bump, but need to see the screens 1st.

Okay, looking at those, this is what I would suggest so far...

CPU - 1.4v (was this enough for 3.6 with 2 sticks RAM? If not, set as needed)
PLL - 1.6v
NB - 1.3v (might need a little more, up to 1.4v but try 1.3v 1st)
FSB Term - 1.23v (again, may need a little more too)

You might also need a very small increase in the SB too, but leave that for now.

Give that a go and report back. Keep an eye on temps using CoreTemp. Don't let the cores go over 70c if at all possible.

Thanks Diggsy,

I done what you said mate and it booted into windows fine, then i ran prime95 and core 1and 3 stopped straight away with no bsod.

im still using them setting now with no restarts which is a good sign

here are my temps mate
