hmm.. one thing when I see this, whats your ambient temp in the case? Where is your computer positioned in relation to the central heating in that room.

Check that your HS is making proper contact with the CPU and not clashing with the retention bracket.

If it is, the bracket is easy enough to remove.

Jokester

TAT was used only for temps .For full load i used Prime 25.4 four threads.
I have lapped cpu ,Its flat.
Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro also lapped .
re-seated cpu 4 times using As5.

So the question is what is being measured as your system temp?

Because if your cpu temp is only 4-6 degrees above your system temp sounds like all you need to do is lower your system temp and you will lower your cpu idle temp.

Is Everest worth the investment? I see there is no free version out anymore.

It is.

Whilst most of its readings and tests can be gathered from various other programs, having it all in one place is great.

I was just running my E6600 on Orthos, I've got it at 3.1GHZ, it reached 71 degrees 4 hours into the test, when before it was just below 65, which I was happy with.

I'm gonna defo invest in a new cooler considering my mobo is rubbish, I can't change the multiplier so I have to slam voltage in, I'm at 1.48 atm. :(

Thanks. Yeah I'm already running the trial. Just deciding whether or not to go for it.

CoreTemp is great also but obviously doesn't have the facilities of Everest. Everest also has some nice Gadget plugins for Vista.

I agree some good gadgets, I would use the 30day trial version until you sort out temps. In my opinion i wouldnt purchase it though allthough it would really depend if you are going to utilize it properly to obtain your moneys worth really. Hope you get the temp issue sorted hopefully by re-seating the heatsink and a thin layer of artic.
