I have begun an overclock and need some advice as to how to proceed, i didnt get any errors in prime for 4 hours but sometimes I will get the bsod and a hardware error malfunction. The prob isnt program specific.
Should I perhaps up the cpu voltage a little?...if so what too?
any suggestions will be most welcome
how do i add pictures?

Take the screenshot, crop it, and upload it to a host like imageshack.us. Then paste the "direct link" URL between

got the pics up at last, I would like to know if iam going in the correct direction and obviously any recommendations would be most excellent.
what should i be doing to the memory?
thanks

I would try and max out the limits of the cpu/mobo first before touching the memory. Some questions though:

What sort of temps are you getting under load?
What are your vdimm and nb voltage settings?
What's your psu make/output?

Before doing anything else I would try and find out the cause of those BSOD's and hardware malfunctions. It might well be that you need to up the vcore but at that speed usually the indicated vcore is more than enough.

Try raising the NB voltage a little and see if that helps with the BSODs. If so, you can try going for a higher overclock, raising both the vcore and nb volts in increments.

To give you an example at just over 3.7Ghz I run at 1.45 vcore and 1.40 nb volts.

I have upped my nbby 0.01v....not a lot I admit.
I upped my vcore a bit too 1.34
I tried to up the fsb from 1300mhz to 1400 and it wouldnt boot.
I have a lot of things in the bios set to auto, I read i should put them all to manual, but I am not sure of the exact voltages/mhz etc etc.
Is there a reliable tool i can use to sdetermine the crucial factors?
I have everest and cpuz.
btw I run 64bit vista.
thanks

dopple.
after playing crysis for 2 hours on very high on a 24"monitor it gave me the bsod.....bah!
and the hardware malfunction, what would you suggest I look at?
thanks

I see you're running Vista 64. As I have no experience with that os I can't be 100% sure that it can be eliminated as a potential problem.

Note the BSOD error code and number and then check Microsoft's site to see whether the reason can be isolated.

Do you only get the hardware error message with Crysis?

You never did tell me your psu make.

BTW your temps aren't causing the problem. It sounds like undervolting to me or memory issues. It could also be a dodgy psu. Try using memtest on your ram to see whether there's any issues with it.

Are your graphic cards overclocked?

It's definitely not an issue with Vista 64 and SLI?

psu is a ocz 650w sli
I have I think eliminated the bsod, I googled a bit and decided it could be the chipset drivers, so i installed the ones that came with the board originally......all seems well.
graphics cards are as standard.
my newer prob is that when i set the bios too the settings I previously had, they will not save and the fsb settings end back at auto?????....the voltage changes remain the same.....
that has got me stumped.
memtested and all was fine.
