Hey Guys,

What would be the best card to use with a Q6600? The system currently has a Q6600 at stock 2.4 and 4GB ram, with a 400w PSU.

Dont mind upgrading the PSU, but what card would be best used in this system without causing a CPU bottleneck?

Cheers

6850 or 460.

There's currently a superclocked 460 on here for about £120.

I'd be careful going for that card with a 400W PSU. EVGA recommend 450W min. Any semi-decent card's could likely need a bit more juice.

I've just gone throught the same thinking and I'm waiting for a 560Ti price drop to c. £150, then I'll buy.

You really want to OC that Q6600 a bit too. 3Ghz should be very easy and more likely avaiable if you wanted, assuming motherboard is good for it. Could make a fair difference in some games too.

Yeah i was thinking that, I might end up going for a cheaper gpu (perhaps one of the ones mentioned) Psu upgrade and an overclock with a decent cooler

Depending on the manufacturer of the psu, you *might* get away with your existing 400w if you went with a 6850. Hit and miss though, would also depend on the +12v rail.
