Hey all, after sticking with my horrific stock heatsink for ages I've decided that the noise it's putting out has to go and I'm going to upgrade to a better cooling solution.

My only concern is that I've got a Lian Li PC-A05 and that a gigantic heatsink might not fit properly (I'm probably wrong) so I just wanted to get your advice and recommendations on what to get? Money isn't really an issue, although I don't want to go silly.

Cheers!

Thermalright Silver Arrow (or IFX-14, pretty similar), Prolimatech Megahalems...

I'm running a Thermalright Ultra120 and it keeps my setup at pretty good temps :) any of the above are way better than mine :)

Had a look into all of those, none of them seem to come with a fan? I assume it's just a case of buying a fan to go with it, but I'd rather buy it packaged together so I don't fail it up as I usually do. Recently installed a Akasa AK-CCX-4002HP for a friend and that was brilliant (is what has given me the push to go and get myself a decent one) so if I could get something like that, which is an all-in-one deal that'd be brilliant.

I've got an IP35-pro mobo as well, if that helps in the decision-making process.. I've no idea how to decide which heatsinks are actually compatible with my stuff ¬_¬

Out of interest, what has stopped you going for the Akasa you installed for your friend?

I personally have the Megahalems with 2 x Apache Black 120mm fans. I use this cable to split the power to the fans. Its seriously easy to do, and in fairness if you can plug in a power cable for your current fan, or even your friends, this isnt any harder. Dont forget to get some more thermal paste if you need it. Again, I personally use MX4.

So you know, you dont need to go with a twin fan setup. You could just get the heatsink, a single fan and the thermal paste. This saves you just under £20.

Any more advice you need just ask.

Ah okay, I wanted to know if that Akasa would fit onto my mobo and inside my case.. since you say it will I've gone and ordered it. Cheers once again guys :D

I am thinking of buying Akasa Venom cpu cooler aswell for my Q6600:). BTW what was your friend cpu on which you installed this cooler?

Installed it on an i7 930, it's such a nice heatsink package and it was so easy to install.
