Should be getting my Q6600 (OC 3.3GHz Guaranteed one) based box soon, but didn't spec in a cooler. I was wondering two things..........
1. Assuming 3.3 is just not happening, what should I be aiming for while I'm still using the stock cooler?
(come to think of it, this is my first intel in a long time, what IS too hot?)
and.
2. With an Asus Striker Formula Extreme, will something like a Tuniq Tower need it's own backplate installed? I don't know if I can be bothered taking the mobo back out when I get a new cooler. My current 64X2-5600+ is using an Asus silent Knight, after the mobo fan retainer failed and dropped the arctic onto the videocard, as it happened, the silent knight went in a treat without replacing the stock backplate (it was the clip on the front that fractured). Can a silent knight be fitted to a 775 without replacing the backplate? If not, what's the best cooler I can get that wont involve me taking the whole machine to bits?
