Hi,

Been pondering the forums for an hour :) i have an E6600 @ 3.5Ghz and i am about to order if the wife doesn't find out a Q6600, now the ones on the web site are they all the G0 stepping??

If so i will order one now!

Can someone please let me know thanks

There are two varieties of Q6600 on the site; the one described as the energy efficient 95W version is the GO stepping variant afaik, but wait for someone more knowledgeable to confirm this!

Just wondering if you'll see all that much of a difference tbh?

Edit: And hello Frank Vincent!

yeah your right and the diffrence is its cooler running as it uses less power so it can overclock more

edit: the diffrence between an e6600 and a q6600 is its pretty much the same as running 2 e6600's but not all programmes will utilise 4 cores or even 2 for that matter so these will run the same but most if not all the new games and apps coming out will use all 4 cores perfectly fine

Unless you using you machine for for something that would really benifit from 4 cores, I'd hold tight. If you don't get the 3.5Ghz you have from your E6600, you may even find things are slower than before. I'd be inclined to wait for the next gen processors if you already have a 3.5Ghz dual core...
