Just wondering what the average lifespan would be for one of these running 1.5-1.55V? I'm attempting to get stable at 3.6+ though I dont want to kill m chip in a month o.O This is for the G0 stepping btw

Cooling is fine usually 60-65 under max load at those voltages.

No-one could possibly answer this question with any degree of certainty.

However, I would guess it would last a lot longer than the time before it gets thrown in a desk somewhere to gather dust, or hacked open to see what's inside!
 
Alrighty, I'll pump a bit more voltage through it then :p I will most likely be upgrading to medium spec nehalem next year anyway so ideally it only has to last till then.
 
What does "Everyday Usage" mean? The PC being left on 24/7? I only use it max for like 4 hours after work, and then the weekends for gaming and surfin'

Its always off otherwise ;o

I dont plan to go higher than 1.53ish really as my BIOS doesnt allow it. VID is 1.30 + BIOS only allows me to add 0.3V max so after droops and drops it ends up as 1.53ish. My board has a lot of voltage running away :c

While its the E6600 not the Q6600 - I had an E6600 running 1.65v at 3.825 pretty much 24x7 on water for almost 2 years without any problems - and I know people who have done similiar on air cooling and not cared about temps - but thats far from any guarantee - they seem to be tough beasts tho should last out their useful life before the extra voltage kills them.
 
Not me - and I've done some insane things with them I'd highly not reccomend like trying to boot up with 1.8+ volts through them :D
 
How many of us who overclock actually keep a cpu long enough to see the long term effects of high voltage ?

Most of us change at the drop of a hat, so i wouldnt bat an eyelid about the high voltages, you wont have the cpu long enough to worry about it!
 
I think it all truth at high Vcore and high fsbs you're far more likely to burn out your mobo !

the VRMs are working rather hard with Quads at high Vcore !
 
Seemed to be running fine at 3.6 yesterday with 1.52 in CPU-Z, so I'll keep running it at that for a while now I know the voltage is fine.

you couldnt do me a monster favour? if you have them you couldnt email in trust the BIOS settings you used for your 4ghz run on the P5Q-Deluxe? would give me an idea of where I need to be...

meant to be working :D but spent the last 4 hours reading the P5Q-Deluxe thread over at XS some really nice info on there
