q6600: lower VID = better?

i have currently got a q6600 with a VID of 1.325v.

my friend, who has 1.2125 (or 1.25, wasn't clear on the phone) q6600 said he will be selling it, he only overclocked to 3.4Ghz once, all other times are 3.2Ghz.

so is lower VID = better CPU, no FSB/overclock wall, and guaranteed lower voltage for same overclock??

my current CPU don't have any sort of walls, i can hit 3.9Ghz with enough voltage through my RAM, and extremely loose timing. and i plan to get the OCuk's G.skill PC2-8000 RAM, hopefully hit 4Ghz with my friend's lower VID CPU.

Mine is 1.25v and it won't do anything more than 3.5gig no matter how much extra volts I use so I don't think the vid makes all that much difference to overclocking. It probably does help heat and power usage though.
this is the bit im interested in.

IF i swap CPU with my friend, (aka, me going from VID 1.325v to 1.21v) will i be able to get higher clock or hit some form of FSB/overclock wall??

in another word, do lower VID tend to have some sort of overclocking wall at higher frequencies? (but below 4Ghz, my goal is 4Ghz on air)

seems like the general thing here is that there is no FSB/clock wall for these lower VID processors.
but they do run hot at same voltage.

so, what do you guys say?
do i swap my higher VID CPU with my friend or not? (we've agreed it'd be free :) )

so given this chance, you guys are saying i should swap with my friend (who have VID of 1.2125v) when he sells his q6600.

what im concerned about is heat, you guys said lower VID will mean more current. and heat in any given circuit is R*I^2, is this means more current is worse than more voltage?

not stable, i need 1.8v which drops down to something more than 1.6v, it's not even able to complete 3Dmark06, and i didn't dare running Prime95. only ran SuperPi on it.

would getting the lower VID give me more chance in reaching 4Ghz with possibly lower temperature?
currently running 3.4Ghz or 3.1Ghz (depends on how i feel like) i'd like to run 3.6Ghz 24/7. would lower VID help me do that?

eek! thats crazy high vore for air or even water.

My chip has the same VID of 1.2125 and im running it stable @ 3.8Ghz 24/7 with just 1.376v actual. Your Cooling should also be able to cope with that. My temps are 45c under prime95 small FFT, you may be in the 50's tops, im sure it will be way better than the chip you have.
got it. thanks!

lol, i know it's crazy high voltage, that's why i only had 1 run at it, and didn't dare run Prime on all 4 cores, if i did, the heatsink might melt!

i can run at 3.6Ghz Prime stable alright, but that would require me to turn top and rear fan to Medium, or to take the side panel off. otherwise it will go over 70c during Prime small FFT.

HI,

What cooling are you using? Ive got my q6600 @ 3.65(ish) and my temps are around 60 running boinc on all four cores 24/7 under water (fusion and pa160). your temps seem to be around 10 degress less and im using less vcore.
who are you asking?

im using thermalright ultra 120 extreme with 2 yateloon fans push and pull
