My Q6600 is running at 360MHz x 9 multiplier with 4Gb memory running at 467MHz

This gives a nice gentle clock of 3.2 GHz on 1.31volts.

I have been running an encoding/decoding benchmark for the morning (about 3 hours)

My temps are holding steady at 36 degrees C in a 19 degrees C room. The load over each core is holding at about 80-85% load.

The fan on my Zalman CPU cooler is spinning up at 1500-1700rpm self regulated!

I'm pretty impressed with these temps, speeds under a good load.

(I use this type of load as it is what is likely in gaming, general hard use)

What does the board think. About right?

As Gurusan mentioned try CoreTemp and run Prime95..
It's more easy to compare those temps as other people use that too..

Those temps does indeed look "to good to be true", they are lower than my stock idle temps... allthough those are ""#¤%&...

Core temp will not work on my PC, it opens has a fit and causes an error message which reads along the line of error in software, will now close, tried it before, including the new Beta version!

Just restarted it, after 3 and a half hours of 80%load, BIOS temps agreed, low 30s about 30 seconds of idle in BIOS saw them drop to 26degrees C!

That's only 7 degrees over ambient!

On my PC core temp just throws up an error which reads

The driver has failed to load!

Some information will not be available.

With and without that hack!

When I click on the little red cross to close it, it just pops right back up again, over and over again until I manually end the process that is causing it!

I think, I'll opt out of coretemp!

PS MBM 5 does the same thing!!

All fixed now, Core temp works! Needed to be restarted and all is well!

Righty ho then.

My chillist core at idle it 28 degrees C, my warmest is 32 degrees C!

Give me a sec, I'll stick some work through them!!

Right, temperatures with Prime 95 running over all 4 cores.

Cores 0 and 1 fluctuate between 55 and 60 degrees C

Cores 2 and 3 between 50 and 55 degrees C

Just turned off the ABIT Fan Eq, so the CPU cooler is now running at full speed.

All temps dropped lots, 0 and 1 down to high 40s

2 and 3 low 40s

Now been prime running for about 20 minutes, temperatures are now stable, no more than 1 degree C flicker on any core.

63 degrees C on cores 0 and 1

55 degrees C on 2 and 3!

Any reason for the differences in temperature over the cores.

I'm using a Zalman 9700 cooler which in normal usage is great!

I very much doubt I'll be Prime testing much so am pretty okay with these temperatures at 3.2GHz.

Overall though, I would like it to be quieter.

As my PC is currently still in shake down trim, as in everything is bolted in, but nothing looks too pretty (cables all over the shop) I'm going to take it all all out and properly cable tie everything, route ugly leads and cables under the motherboard etc.

Would I get any real gains in cooling performance from a different cooler?
