just installed a q6600 i bought from mm

it has a Vid of 1.3

ive got it to 3.6 ghz with 1.472v going through it acording to cpu-z

ive had it stable under prime95 for 45 mins now but the temps are reading 74 67 67 75 on core temp

now this is a little high for my water set up dont you think ? (thermochill 120.2, ddc, apogee gtx)

i'd put the two reading over 70 down to the fact i'm using the larger o ring in my apooge gtx

so my question is, will the 74 odd degrees c hurt it and is this high for water ?

i fancy an EK supreem as ive heard good things about them

cheers

Can't see the EK being any better. The odd temp reading (two @ 74-75c and two @ 67c) would seem to say that contact with the higher two is bad. Try different O rings to see whether it's the block or the chip that's not flat.

yeh i would, but ive lost the smaller o ring :o

would you say that, 75 is gonna hurt a quad tho ?

cheers

IMO it's on the upper limit, but I've run them far hotter without any issues.

Check to see if the IHS is bowed or dished using a credit card or similar. If it isn't then it's probably your block.

Id say 75'c in prime95 load should be fine, youll never likely hit those sort of temps in normal day to day use.

the voltage drop on my ds3r is ludicrous

its at 1.5850 in the bios and its reading 1.472 in core temp ffs

theres two more steps until 1.6 v then it jumps to 1.8 then 2.0 iirc

crap tbh

Well it's not really a board designed for high quad clocks tbf. The DS3P would have been better.
