Hi guys,
Got what is probably a very simple overclocking question.
Ive been running my Q6600 G0 at 3GHz on its stock cooler since I got my new PC. Running coretemp and prime95 didnt show up any issues so thats been ok since November.
However I recently installed a new hard drive and was copying 100gb of HDV AVI files for video editing and decided to do a file compare afterwards to make sure my drive was ok. To cut a long story short there were errors as the files didnt match and after trying this and trying that it looks like its down to the system being overclocked.
When copying data the CPU isnt being taxed at all so I dont think its overclocking the chip thats the problem, more the motherboard or system bus but thats where my knowledge ends as the last time I OC'd something it was a Celeron 300A and it was a very simple job.
Im running a Gigabyte P35-DS3R motherboard, latest F11 BIOS and GEiL DDR2 value memory (BIOS reports 800MHz for it).
What things should I try first to keep my system OC'd but running stable.
As I said, the PC seems fine, been playing CSS, Crysis, doing video editing in Sony Vegas with no apparent problems, but obviously something is amiss if file copy ok when standard but I get CRC/MD5 differences when copying OC'd
Thanks for you help folks,
R.
