Hi All,

I've been overclocking my Q6600 on an ABit IP35 motherboard (not the pro) but am a little confused on the cpu core vlotage front, If I set vcore to 1.4v in the bios its not even showing as 1.3v within CPUz or ABit EQ.

Which one should I believe?

I've got it running happily at 3.2Ghz 355 x 9 on 1.3v (in bios) and had it mostly stable at 3.4 380 x 9 at 1.44 v (bios) but it failed prime overnight. I did notice that both CPUZ and Abit EQ said my vcore was more like 1.34 than 1.44 (its rock solid atable at this level though, no fluctuations).

Core temps at 3.4Ghz were maxing out at about 58 degrees under full prime stress test.

Should I try more volts? Or should I just be happy with a rock solid 3.2 Ghz with load temps of 44 degrees?

I'm a relative noob oc'ing the core duos, it's a recent upgrade from my old amd based system, so any advice much appreciated.

My system is:
Q6600 Go
Abit IP35 Mboard
4 Gb, 2 x 2 OCZ vista gold series 6400 RAM
BFG 8800GT OC
Seasonic M12 700Watt PSU
CPU cooled by Thermalright 120 Ultra extreme (Lapped)
Case cooled by 3 x 120mm and 4 x 80mm quiet case fans

Ta very,

your system will have effectivly 3 Vcore levels, the BIOS set Vcore, the Vcore when you load at idle and also this will drop further when you stress the CPU..

You are ok to increase the Vcore from 1.4v is more the load temps you have to worry about and 58c (assumming thats a read from coretemp) gives you some room to play with... most people will say no more than 65/70c on full prime95 load.. but really is a matter of preference the Q6600 will start to throtal at 100c
