Just got myself a second hand q6600 and had a bash at OC'ing it. Got it being cooled with a Freezer 7 Pro and the VID is 1.2875. Managed to get it running at 3.0ghz on 1.3v, and managed 3.5ghz at 1.55.

Temps were under 70c at 1.5v but the highest i could get it to was 3.45ghz. The little extra jump to 1.55 bumped it to around 78c.

Just wondering if it's worth picking up a corsair H50 and seeing how far it will go or whether i should just leave it at 3.45 and be done with it.

Cheers in advance!

you dont need to go to the expense of the h50. there are plenty of coolers around the £30 mark that are much better than the ac7 like the fenrir, the zalman 10x's, the thermolab barim and the thermalright ifx-14, any of those will handle the q6600 much better than the ac7.

when i had my system in my coolermaster stacker 831 with my q6600 @ 3.3ghz - 1.45 i was getting 57 -58 running ibt and idling at about 27c, now that my system is in a fractal r2 the temps are about 10c higher under load :(
