Getting a p5b deluxe soon so can sell the PD and get a c2d architecture finally.
Q6600 or E6750 ? The q6600 is a lot more for me I'd have to save up a lot longer.
Could the 95 watt edition of the Q6600 reach 3ghz with a freezer 7 pro & p5b deluxe and a geil pc6400 ull kit?
And how high would the e6750 go, I'd like 3.6 ghz?

Oh I dunno if I should make a new thread in the mobo section but what's better for ocing:
P5B
P5B-E plus
P5B deluxe
?
Am I right thinking the deluxe is best, I'm just not sure about the plus?

For less than £40 more than the 6750,I'd say it's definitely worth going for the Quad.It should easily do 3ghz on the Arctic pro.

If you can,go for a P35 board as they clock the quads very nicely.Asus,Gigabyte and Abit all have good value for money options.

I dont have so much money, I'm getting my p5b deluxe for 35 €, but p35 boards arn't on the product list yet, it are Bulk prices...

40 quad is a lot for me also for a q6600, I just don't know if I'll manage to strech, I'm a 16 year old jobless kid, so might take months even just to save up the extra for a q6600 :(.

Already have the Geil ULL, it does 867 mhz @ cas 4 so I think I wont be limited with that, as I'd expect about 900-1000 with loosened timings...
Already have a freezer 7 pro too...
Decisions decisions.

If money is tight, then forget the 6750 and go for a 2180 with a decent cooler, you'll be able to clock it to 6750 speed and beyond, the board and ram you specify are more than capable of allowing high clocks.

For the money the quad is the better buy. If you want dual core then buy a cheap low end one and clock it.

Overclock isn't guaranteed though. And I want that extra cache, I want my cpu to last 2 years.
The e 6750 looked like the best bang for buck cpu @ stock, and will prolly go higher on oc than the 2 and 4 series, If I upgrade cooler it might reach 3.7 ghz I recon, higher than the low ends would ever go.
I'm leaning to the q6600 though, as imo it's more likely to last me 2 years, I can always upgrade cooling later on to get higher clocks...

Anybody know what the tdp is of a quad 6600 g0 @ 3ghz + required voltage.
Is it more than my current 150 watts for my pentium D (if not, it means I 'should' get better temps than now)?

I can always buy the cpu later on too, for the first weeks I'll still be stuck with my old kit, I'm future proofing me a bit to pci-e1.1 and for conroe support so I can later buy something better in terms of gfx and cpu. So for now only thing I'm sure about is that the p5ld2 goes and the p5b deluxe wifi/ap comes.
