Hi,

I am going for a q6600 but dont know what board, (4gb) ram, psu to go for...

I do game i.e. splinter cell double agent, COD4, pro evo etc but I also use photoshop and do a lot of video editing...

I am on a budget of around £350 - £360 that is to include my q6600...

I will be overclocking the q6600 as well..

Please help

Cheers!!

rams easy, just get the cheapest pc2-6400 2x2gb stick. Geil or OCZ are worth checking out for under 60quid. An MSI P35 Neo2-FR motherboard is fantastic for overclocking quads and for 75quid its cheap to. add that lot to your quad your looking at 60quid to spend on the psu. If your overclocking a quad you need a good psu, an OCZ StealthXStream 600w Silent for 58 quid will fit the bill :)

I think that lot tips the scales at 360 quid all in.

sounds good ;)

is the MSI really that good?

Are the V rails on the PSU decent? I wont be prone to restarts will I? Alternatively it will not be the limiting factor when overclocking will it?

I think that’s a top setup, all of those items have good feedback.

A few people on here run between 3.6 and 3.8ghz with that cpu and mb combo.

The OCZ psu is made by FSP a huge well respected psu manufacturer and shares components with their OCZ GameXstream 700w psu. for under 60 pounds you can’t get a better 600 watt psu.

Most Q6600 G0s scale very well on low voltages. You’re looking at around 1.35v to hit 3.6Ghz. That sort of vcore really doesn’t stress good air cooling.

I must have a really crap chip. I'm using 1.49v at only 3.5ghz.

I'm running my G0 at 3.0Ghz stock voltages at the moment, still making sure it's stable before cranking it to 3.2 and above.
