Q6600 overclock

Those fans are generally concidered to be a gymic. You're almost definitely better off getting an Akasa Eclipse with a 120mm fan front and back. Generally concidered to be one of the best air cooling systems

Nice case, but almost 100 pound with no PSU.

Can anyone suggest the best case inc PSU to keep it all nice and cool for around 70 Pound max.

i wouldn't get a case that include a psu if you are planning to stick something as power hungry as a q6600 in it... and depending on your other componants (hungry gfx etc..)... i'd look to get a decent PSU on top of the case...

Antec 900 is cheaper and probably cools a lot better (known for being on e of the coolest cases on the market)

all depends on what the rest of your system is, skimping on the PSU can mean dead componants...

I did look at that case actually as an option, ..good price to.

Is there a PSU with that case, and if so would it be good enough for an Abit AB9 Quad GT board and Q6600 cpu? Graphics card wise that will only be average, as the PC is being used mainly for online program chess (the quads have great benchmarks on Fritz 10) so only cpu and ram is important really.

Dont skimp on the most important part of the PC.

The psu should be taken very seriously

easy, what do you think would be the recommended min PSU for a quad?

The OCZ range of PSU's are great. Cant fault them.

So are the corsairs - down to personal opinion at the end of the day.

Just DO NOT get a Hiper to power it - could end in tears, same for Q-Tec.

We use the 500&600 watt Seasonic's in our custom built PC's. They are on 24/7 and I can't fault them. We have used 100's of the things and not had 1 failure.

What's up with the Hipers? I've got a Hiper 580 Type-R in my rig atm and am thinking of getting a Q6600 and attempting to get it to 3Ghz. Will this PSU cause issues with that?

hypers have a nasty habit of going 'fzzp' quite a few people here have had them die, some rather spectacularly...

But then again, some people have had theirs for years without issues, personally i wouldn't get another one (have owned one before, didn't die, but was most certainly not powerful enough for a superclocked 805...)

Hm.. like you say some people have no probs.

I've had my 805 at 4.01 on cold days but the rest of the time I generally have to drop it to 3.8. :( God damn hot room! Never had an issue with the Hiper. I think that unless I get an 8800 or 2900 or something I'll stick with it. Although I checked one of those voltage calculators and it reckoned that for a Q6600 at 3 gig with an 8800GTX, (plus the other bits and bobs in my system) 524w would cover it.
