Could someone please tell me what numbers i should enter in to my BIOS to overclock my Q6600 to 3.0ghz. Never done any kind of overclock before so don't want to mess anything up.

my rig is as follows.
Antec 900
Core2Quad Q6600 2.4Ghz
Arctic Cooling Freezer 7
Corsair XMS6400 800mhz
XFX GTX280 1GB
ASUS P5Q Pro
Corsair 620w psu
320gb sata
Vista 32bit

My comp idle's around 36-39 degrees if thats any use.

Any help would be great , thanks in advance:p

All volatges on auto except ram.
also set ram timings

Enter 333 into the fsb
multiplier set to 9

viola

1333mhz fsb 333*9 = 3.0Ghz

i wouldnt advise on setting things on auto - it just increases the chances of instability, try and set EVERYTHING manually if you can.

Post your bios options and we can help, you wont need to tweak much for 3ghz, you can change these though:

DDR2 Voltage: 2.1v
NB: 1.42v
Unlink your ram if it lets you, otherwise try and set at a 1:1 ratio - how much ram do you have? 4x1gb, 2x2gb etc?

Ignore.

Setting vcore to auto, the board is more likely to give more voltage than needed rather than less therefore the auto setting IS preferable until you come to fine tuning your clocks or going for higher clocks

You wont be able to unlink your ram, unlinking ram is an nvidia chipset feature

you could set your mem timings, try at 5-5-5-18-24-2T for now, your still best setting vcore at something like 1.360v or something - well i would personally, its puts you on the stepping stone so you dont need to work it out as much later
