Q6600 Overclocking Advice...

Hi all,

I've bought an OCuK prebuilt, with a q6600 that was overclocked to 3.4Ghz. I had some trouble earlier this week with the 8800GTX and basically reflashed the BIOS and everything, so the default clock settings were restored (2.4Ghz).

Basically, my question is, what would I need to 'crank' up in order to restore the 3.2-3.4Ghz boundary? I'm not an overclocking novice, but I just don't want to burn out this core or create instability! At the moment the core clock is on something like 244Mhzx9. Any advice on what settings to get the 3.0Ghz+? I assume there weren't any Voltage changes. If you think they're necessary, please by all means, give the advice!

Thanks!

Edit: By the way, I realise there's a q6600 overclocking thread, but my question is more about how to get the overclock back to the OcUK-prebuild 'safe' levels, rather than how to push it to the extremes. I'm really not a confident overclocker, and would just like to restore the speed I had when I bought it!

What motherboard is it?

At 400x9 my Asus Blitz Formula does 3.6ghz
Most setting are on auto and im using the lowest memory divider which get me a straight 800mhz DDR2.

3400/9 = 378

This would give you 3.4GHz, but whether they needed to increase voltages you'd have to ring and ask them.

Maybe they just set it on auto in the bios, if I were I'd just give them a bell to find out.

If OC don't come up with the goods let me know as I've got one of these sytems and could run through my BIOS settings with you, for you to use a base and take it from there in terms of stability testing/tweeking.

Who would have thought a D-sub adaptor could have casued so much grief!
