I'm planning a new build atm, and was originally gonna get an E6850, but I noticed that the energy efficient Q6600 is around the same price.

I'd hope to clock it to 3GHz speed. If I got it at that speed, then I would have double the amount of cores as the E6850, but at the same speed, correct?

I just wondered if anyone knew the success rate of overclocking these particular chips.

TIA

I have just built a normal air cooled system with a Q6600.
Normal temp with default settings is 28C for the cores. There are quite
a few fans in the system.

For an air cooled system what speed could i get to. e.g what should i easilly get to and what might i get to ?

Oh just read the above - 3.6 on air. Any other offers out there?

also what temperature is safe - any ideas ?
