Well i was just looking for the q9450 but it seems that it is out of stock :(

I am getting this system

4gb 800mhz reaper
8800gts
780w ocz power and cooling
x38 dfi lan party

I was thinking of ocing any cpu i get to 3.2Ghz.

My question is... Is there that much difference between the q9450 or the
q9300 considering the 12mb l2 cache of the q9450 because i am really confused here.

I use the computer mainly for gaming and watching movies. I do not do any encoding,or resource hungry programming.Manly bulding this pc for the upcomming game age of conan.

Any1 knows when the cpus are going to get in stock from ocuk? (9450s)
Should i just go for a 9800 gtx instead of the 8800 gts with the extra $$$ i save?

Obviously theres a difference... I believe an extra 6mb of cache really helps out each core. Also the Yorkfield quads FSB start at 1333 so it will be easier to achieve a "sensible" overclock like 3.2 . £70 difference between the Q9300 and Q9450... its up to you if you want to push the boat out a little, personally im going to upgrade to the Q9450 :)

What about dumping the q9450 and getting a q6600 (downgrade)

then dumping the 8800gts and getting and oc 9800gtx (upgrade)

I think this will give me a greater boost of FPS right?

9800GTX (glorified 8800GTS G92) is still a downgrade compared to the 8800GTX.

The 8800GTX would be a good upgrade for your res IMO.

Thats a little strange because in a toms hardware review they said that the 9800gtx has nearly the power as the 8800 ultra. The only downfall they said there is because it is larger then the 8800gts and produces more noise in which i don not care about. Last but not least they also said that the 9800gtx runs really cool i think better then the 8800 gtx.Are these all lies?

Most of the test showed that it is faster then the 8800 gtx on 1680 resolutions.

What about drivers? Aren't nvidia realizing drivers specifically made for the 9800 gpus and discarding the 8800 drivers?

My bad then Shaolin :)
