Hi there!

Feel to free to shout at me for being stupid or not understanding other topics about this properly but I'm getting thoroughly frustrated about conflicting information regarding 1:1 ratios. I have:

Asus P5Q Deluxe MB
Overclocked Q6600 G0 3Ghz (9x333)
Underclocked 2GB Kingston HyperX 1066 RAM (667)
Artic 7 Cooler

Basically I believe that the system is currently running at 1:1 but obviously my RAM is now running at around 50% of its maximum capable speed. Now if 1:1 really is all that important to performance can I not lower the CPU multiplier and up the FSB frequency in order to boost up the RAM speed - or is that going to effect something else performance wise. Everyone seems to go for a higher multiplier and lower FSB so I just assumed going the other way for the sake of faster RAM was a bad idea?

Conversely if I kept the RAM underclocked does this mean I might tighten the timings from 5-5-5-15 to something better (only just started looking into this so have no idea what is available just yet).

Also on another note I am running around 39~ on CoreTemp when idle and between 69-73~ under load. Is that within acceptable limits or should I have a look at my cooling again??

Cheers for any help you guys might be able to give!

I got visitors right now and work just after that but I will answer later (8pm), been playing with my P5Q deluxe and Q6600 for a good few weeks now.

Mine runs at 3ghz, 9 x 333, and I have the FSB strap at 333Mhz which allows me to select the 1066 dram frequency. First I've heard that running 1:1 was so important.

I am running 400x9 here. I can run 3.2Ghz, 3.4Ghz and 3.6Ghz all stable but I only ever choose 3.2 or 3.6 because 3.4 doesnt allow me to run 1:1 without unclocking the RAM.

That would be great. I fiddled around quite a bit when I got the board a couple of months ago and got it running stable but now I have the itch to push it a bit further! :D

How much did you have to tweak the voltage to get 3.2-3.6?

And out of interest how hot does it run and what cooler do you have running?
