right i am gonna spend a few notes on updating my pc, this is what i am looking at atm ...

intel q6600 slacr
abit up 35 pro
768 xfx 8800 gtx xxx alpha dog
2gb corsair dominator twin x

basically i want something that can handle gaming, css and crysis is one im looking at, but at the same time have the capability to play with photoshop and image editing. i have looked at the q9450 but cant justify the extra money when the go stepping provides excellent oc ..... anyone have any suggestions? the lot above would come around the £550 mark .. case is a coolermaster cm stacker with motherboard fan, 2 x80mm fans 1 x 120mm and 1 x 60mm all ultra low noise although it sounds like a jet engine due to the fan on my cpu ....

cheers for the help

What screen/resolution will you be using with it? You could possibly save yourself some money on the graphics card by getting an 8800GT and whacking 2Gb more ram in there.

screen res atm is 1440 x 900 ... would it be worth the drop from 1066 to 800ish (i have read on here somewehere) getting 4gb? gfx card will be 230ish i have been infromed but dont mind bumping up to 4gb as long as i wont hinder the oc (never truely oc a comp before) oh and i forgot to say the cpu will be water cooled by northq siberian riger cooling (all in one for cpu)

I have 4Gb running at 1063mhz. Don't always have to drop it.

If you're only going to be gaming at 1440 x 900 i would certainly suggest saving yourself £100 and getting an 512mb 8800GT.

4GB of good PC6400 ram would sort you out :) Gskill gets good praise on here. 2 x 2GB sticks.

Out of interest, what sort of OC are you hoping to get from your Q6600?

last i have read they were knocking on 3.3 -3.6 ... i know with a quad i wouldnt use the whole range, but the missus dont want me spend much on "that damn computer" yeah and shes 24 .... so it helps stretch the money a lot further ..
