Hi gang,

Computer specs in footer.......

Is there a noticable difference (e.g. day2day, gaming, windows etc) going from:-

2.4 -> 3.1 GHZ?

how about a smaller increase:-

3.2 -> 3.4 GHZ?

The reason I ask is that I can reach 3.1 easily with not much temperature increase, but a lot more tricky hitting anything above.

Also with regards memory:-

Is there a noticable difference from:-

3.2 (8 * 400) memory running 1:1 with processor @ 400 @ 4 4 4 12

3.2 (9 * 356) memory running 1:1 with processor @ 356 @ 4 4 4 12

The reason why I ask this is that I cannot get my memory running at anything above 344 @ 4 4 4 12.

This needs to be in the overclocking section really.

We need to know a few more details....What volts are you running CPU and RAM have you tired slacking the timings on your Ram to increase your overclock?

You will get a nice noticeable boost from 2.4 to 3.1, though you should be able to push a little further. I’ve just hit a problem with my Q6600 @ 3.4

Generally you will not notice a speed boost of less than 10%. I ran my E6550 (normally clocked at 3.4GHz) at 2.4GHz for several weeks without even noticing it. Most games and apps run fine on base C2D's anyway.

Overclocking from 2.4 to 3.4 gave me another 4FPS in World in conflict and 6 FPS in Unreal3....I would say its worth his while.

It depends on your fps to start with. An increase of 4 fps from 120-124fps is hardly noticeable and not much an increase, but gaining 4 fps when you only had 10 to start with is a massive % gain.
