I've overclocked my Q6600 to 3.24Ghz 8hours stable on Prime95. If I get a fan for the PWM, I should be able to overclock further. However, I've heard that after this CPU is overclocked to 3Ghz, you don't notice much 'real-world' difference above that. So my question is: if I got to 3.4+, would I notice any difference?

I don't know where you heard that from, mine is overclocked to 3.8. I've noticed a huge improvement in video encoding over from when I had it at 3.2.
Windows seems a lot faster also, so it's not all down to benchmarking.

Ive got mine running at 3.2. Its good for everyday use and temps done get high. Stick to arround there, you wont notice much difference above that.
