Hi there first post im having trouble keeping my q6600 stable after 30 mins of prime 95 I get a blue screen of death i was just wondering what going on my set up is wrong or ? im runing asus striker 2 780i i set it to synced ram so it keeps it around 800mhz instead of going to 1066mhz ive tried the ram at 2v that didnt change anything i set the vcore to around 1.45 the only prob i have is fsb as it wont boot in windows unless its above 1.50 ive set it to 1.55 which is still in green level It just wont last in prime 95 my set up is

Q6600 (cooled with xigmatek dark knight)
Corsair xms2 800mhz 2x2gb
Asus Striker 2 formula 780i
275gtx
750watt psu

any help is very appreciated thanks

i take it u are struggling to get past 3.6ghz as your ram is linked and its at 800, (400 x 9 = 3.6)
can u see the bsod code? if so look at this http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/showthread.php?266589-The-OverClockers-BSOD-code-list
Also your mobo afaik is not the best for overclocking quads.
what was your last stable speed when u past a stress test run?

i found these settings, u can give them a try if u want to.

Q6600, asus strikerII formula overclocked at 3.6 GHz
Try this out, Stable clock at 3.6

gona try

thank you very much for replying i think my last stable was 3.2ghz but im using cpu level up at moment as i gave up i will try these settings and see if i get lucky thanks

its always better to overclock yourself and build upto an overclock.
If the settings above, dont work, go back to the settings u had for 3.2.
then raise the vcore a few levels, then raise the fsb to 367, this will get you 3.3ghz (367 x 9)
and run stress test, if it passes, raise to 377 and test again, u can rais ethe vcore to 1.5v, so try and dont go over that.
max temp is 80.C

u dont say if this is a G0 or B3 revision Q6600.
Download cpu-z and fire it up, it will say it in this, this will also give u all the details u need. eg, fsb, multiplier, vcore etc...
also under the memory tab, u can check your ram speed. timings etc.....

oh sorry forgot to put its a g0 stepping one nothing worked just crashes after windows screen saying loading desktop im gona give it a try it takes a lot of spare time this sort of stuff I will post screenie if i ever manage to get a decent clock thanks for your time and help :)

settings

ive managed 3.5ghz I was just wondering if voltages are ok to use

cpu vcore is fine, as i said, u can take it upto 1.5v.
What are u using to stress test? Personally i prefer using intel burn test, use high ram and 4 threads, and let it run for at least 20 passes.
keep an eye on temps, dont let it go higher 80.C

Im using prime 95 ive got intel burn test gona try it now i know tht puts a lot more load on cpu to generate some heat

true, but IBT will usually find an unstable overclock within 20 passes (avg of 30-40mins) where Prime can often stop after 12hrs

It kept moaning saying system unstable stoping after 5 passes i raised the vcore some more and started ibt its done 30 passes so all stable max temp is 74 so not to bad my cooler i thought should do better as i got 2 fans on it nvm just one of things thanks for your help

74.C is fairly good with a Q6600 at 3.5ghz in IBT, also remember, nothing in day to day use, will get it as high as IBT ;)
