Q6600 @ stock voltage

Ok, whats the highest clock speed you guys have got from a Q6600 without increasing the cpu's voltage. You think they can do 2.9ghz without increasing volts?

Im interested cus im using the stock cooler and dont want to increase the volts if I can help it, to keep temps lower.

Surely overclocking the quad cores with the stock cooler is pantamont to suicide due to the heat those chips pump out?. What temps you getting with the cores under load with TAT?

TAT wont work on my vista 64, but on everest the 4 cores hit around 70c on orthos, which is fine as the Q6600 wont throttle until about 85c , and its not really any cooler at stock (2.4ghz)

I dont really want it running above 75c on load though, so until I can be bothered to get a decent cpu cooler, just wondered how far ppl have overclocked the chip on stock voltage..as its probably a bad idea increasing volts with stock cooler. Im @2.7 at the moment without any problems.

Not sure. But everest is ment to be pretty acurate from what ive read on here

Give it a try. I've seen a lot of people with quads having their chips at 75 degrees under load.

3.1 odd gig on a 9X without complaint. Not tried pushing it harder yet. Not a G0 stepping.

Is that at 1.275volts?

Mines not a G0 either.

My Q6600 isnt a G0 but it's already at 3.1GHz with no increase in voltage, cracking little chip, very happy

Did you find much temp increase overclocking without voltage increase?

Yup, gone from 55 at full load to 65-70 but still well below 85-90 that some people are happy with.
