ive looked around the net and the forums and i wondered what people's Q6600 temps where on there pc,
ive got the Antec gamer case with the huge roof fan i bought a thermalright 120 ultra cooler,
set it up and followed all the guides on the instalation includeing useing minimal arctic silver paste.
ive put the 120mm fan on the cooler and run it on both sides of the cooler but i cant seem to get my chip running any lower than 37-39 degrees on idle on the pc.?
is there anything else i might be doing wrong or anyother way i can maybe get my fans to run any faster than what there set to in my bios which is optimal setting?
lots of people post there Quad's are running at like 15-20 degrees idle but i just cant see how it's possible to achieve the same temps when i checked my cooler it was good and was not concaved and was flat, i know a lot of people had a problem with the concave on the cooler but mine seemed to be in vgood condition any help tips to get it running any cooler would be appreciated,
the cooler itself seems to be ice cold and i cant really feel notice any heat in the case at all my motherboard temp says it is 33 degrees i dont know if that is abnomal either?
any advice would be appreciated as ive trauled a lot of these posts but not sure what to try now to get it cooler?

ive not tried to clock it yet but that was my intention,
so im wondering could my cpu be buggered?
it seems rather hot for it even under load i thought with this cooler id be getting under 40

also when i run core temp it shows my core's all running at 19
but i know u have to add roughly 15 to that to get a more accurate idea,
and also how accurate is TAT? that is what im useing to view my overall temps
and load test

Have you reseated the cooler.

check contact between the cooler and CPU. The thermal paste will indicate if full contact is made before reinstalling cooler.

Is your q6600 B3 stepping or G0?

Out of interest are you using core temp to measure temps?

im useing TAT To measure temps the cpu is seating fine on the cooler ive had it in and out 2-3 times and i know u have very slight movement on the cooler even when the plate is tightened down
which i find a little worrying
really i would have thought it wouldn't move

As a suggestion remount the Q6600 stock cooler and record the the temps for comparison against the thermalright.

Use a razor blade and hold against the thermal right base. Light shining through will confirm an uneven base.

You can use the same technique with the CPU as well.

Elimination process will narrow down the problem between the two.
