as above, i have a Q6600 B3 version.
cooled by a tuniq tower 120 (just fitted for first time, with MX-4)

my idle temps using coretemp is
core 1 30.C
core 2 28.c
core 3 25.c
core 4 29.c

sightly overclocked to 306 x 9 (mobo defaults to this when i fit the q6600)

vid at idle is 1.1625v, at load it was around 1.325v

i just ran 3dmark6 and the max temp was 54.c on core 1 (the hottest)

then i decided to run the linpac test in OCCT and after 20 mins, the test stopped, saying the cpu was too hot. looking in the graph result, it was saying the temps hit 75.c
but in coretemp it was saying 54.c

are these temps ok? also is coretemp the more accurate?

Hey j.col,

so given the choice between a [B3] Q6600 and a AMD® Phenom™ II X3 710 you finally opted for the older Q6600! :D

Phenom II X3 710 or Q6600

anyways lets see how the new chip is doing temp wise . . . can you download these apps:

Prime95
HWMonitor

Open HWMonitor and leave it idling for a few mins, then open up Prime95 and choose Torture Test >> Small FFTs and leave that running for 30 mins . . . make a screenie of the system loaded and post it up!

hi wayne, yes i went for the Q6600, i got it quite cheap really :p
also with the 710, it was laser cut so the fourth core was not possible.
and worked out more expensive than the Q6600.

at a friends house now,
i already have prime & hwmonitor. (been learning lots in this forum :D)
i was going to run it tonight, after the kids stopped using it
i will post some pics later,

edit. just rechecked the old thread.
to big wayne, i was getting the mobo and 710 for £80 (used obviously)
its still for sale if you are interested, i can email you the link

AMD Phenom II X3 710 (Stock 2.6, on this board = 3.6 with +0.075V)
Gigabyte GA-MA770-UD3

Make sure fan control is off in bios and use the tuniq tower fan controller and max out the fan when stress testing.

hi guys here are some results
FSB at 306 dram freq. at 382.5MHz
tower fan at 100%

idle is 15.c on core 1 (with coretemp)
but room temp must be 20.c

prime95testtemps.png

coretemp ,speedfan and hwmonitor are all showing different temps

but they are still fairly low

Looking good j.col

Temperature wise its the left hand column on coretemp which displays current temps, I also get those odd min temp readings on startup.

It's hard to tell from your screeny but appears you temps are around 39c under load which is good with voltages on auto.

Also appears your VID is 1.3250 which, though not the best VID out there, should give you a decent overclock as you have good cooling.

Crank that baby up mate & post your results!! ;)

Resized screeny is much clearer :)

So yeah you are 39c under load on stock voltages with a 1.3250 VID chip with good cooling so plenty of room for manouver, go for it!!! :D

PS I ditched speedfan ages ago (got weird readings) & use HW monitor for PWM temps, Coretemp for CPU temps & CPUZ for voltages.

lol, would love to, but i have a crappy mobo, this will do for now

I found 3.2 achievable on my B3 with a couple of notches, with 3.4 needing an increase up to 1.3625V. On prime it maxes out after about an hour @ 60 odd, but seems to drop down to 50 then go back up for some reason (must be the stresses placed on the core oscillating somewhat).

Haven't gone above 3.4, first attempt at 3.5 crashed after a couple of seconds on prime. Good chip though for its age.

thanks, but you have a proper mobo, while i have a crappy one, and cannot afford to buy a better one :(

nice temps m8
i have my q6600 at stock and the temps are 48c (looks like i need to invest in another cooler)
i did manage to clock it up to 3.6 with no problems other than the temps maxxing out at 80c
decided not to push it any further :(

hi S innes, and welcome to the forum.

its always a good idea to get a better cooler when you are overclocking,
what speed are you running it at now? and what temp?
