Q6600 temps

Had a read through of various threads, and decided to 'stress' my new q6600, or rather, try to :)

Anyway, I came up with this:

Its the 'blend' test on Prime 95, I dont know if the program can stress the processors more through some other way?

Core #2 only seemed to go as high as 63, while #0 went on 70 briefly.

Left the pc idle for a while and idle temps were about an average of 50, with #0 on about 52 and #2 on about 46.

I suppose what im asking is, am i actually stressing the processors as much as I can, and are these temps too hot anyway for what im doing?

Played WoW earlier () everything in full, average was I think about 70, some on 75 others on 70. Similarly, played BF2 with graphics on 'high' and it only reached what its doing now...

Oh, extra info, its on an IP35 mobo, 2 gb 6400 ram, and everything stock, ive reseated the fan once, which seemed to lower the temps a tiny bit, but im still a bit worried.

Plus all these threads on sanding down the CPU top and the heatsink are just scary....

OK, theres quite a difference from before! :D

@ Load for 25 mins (think thats long enough):

Then let them cool down for about 5 mins to get:

It doesnt seem /too/ hot to me, but then again ingame im going to have my GTS whirring away as well, although there is an 80mm fan blowing air directly onto it almost :)

I suppose as well since thats the CPU @ 100% that the temps really arent going to go any higher? (by more than 1 or 2 Degrees?)

ok, applied plenty of paste and reseated the stock cooler, but the temps are going 70 degrees+ when under full load with small FFTs.

Also, when core #0 and core #3 hit the 72 mark, cores #1 and #2 are still only between 65 and 62, is this difference in temperature normal?

Im sorely tempted to either buy a better cooler for it or just return the chip itself as that may be faulty?

As for case ventalitation, theres a 120m at the front pulling air in, a 80m on the side (but at the bottom of the case blowing onto the graphics card) and a 120m at the back almost right next to the top of the stock cooler fan pulling air out. Theres also an 80m on the top of the case pulling air out.

Any advice please?

Idle temps for core #0 and #3 are now 49 and 47 respectively, with #1 and #2 at about 42/43.

ok, reapplied paste using credit card to smooth it all out, all cores running at round about same temp, idle now at 40, but 100% load still pushes it to 70, albeit the temperature creaps up where as before it shot up like a rocket.

Im definetly going to see about purchasing a better cooler, theres also the fact this intel stock cooler isnt 'rock solid' on the board, it can move slighty to the left and right

And im using bog standard heat transfer compound, seems to do the job though :)
