Just wondering what people would consider safe temps to be for the Q6600. Core temp reports it as 100degC but I'm sure that's not right! Looking around I've seen some people say a max safe temp of 85degC but even that sounds a bit on the high side?

I'm currently clocked up to 2.8GHz but hoping to get it up some more tonight. My current temp on load is 56degC (according to core temp), but I can see this jumping well over 60 tonight when I push the FSB higher.

What temps are you guys considering 'safe' for your clocks?

If CoreTemp is reporting Tjunction as 100c then you've got the latest version.

During the summer mine regularly hit over 70c when running Prime95.

But there's a bit of debate over what is the sensible max temp for the Quads. But I would keep it below 80c when Priming. That's as warm as it will ever get.

Running the latest core temp with the patch for Vista. I'd be happy up to about 70c on load but anything over that would probably have me a bit worried...

Anyone else run their quad over 70c on load? Hows it been so far/how long has it been running for?

Mine has seen 96 deg, still going strong, back down to 70's now tho.
I dont think my B3 will throttle till 100 deg so theres not much chance of me cooking it.

hottest mine is at on stock cooler @ 3ghz is about 75 during prime95.

no fails or anything so im guessing its alright ;)

Just been playing with Mine and its now running at 3.4 Ghz (378 x 9) at 1.42v with core temps of 61,59,59,61 so far its been priming for about 40 mins so I'd guess that will probably be stable.

Idle @ full fan speed mine Idles around +2/3c over ambient temp, although normally run the fans at 30% so Idle is around +7/8c above ambient.. Loaded I am hitting 62/62/56/56, has been up to around 70c on the old stock cooler

Have known prime to fail after 6+ hours, irritated me yesterday with two over 5 hour failures whilst trying to get current setup 8 hours stable
