Just a quick question, are these temps too high ?

They normally idle around 50oC, Pic above shows when doing virus scan. Is it normal for them to go that high ?

That does seem high especially with only one core at 27%.
What cooler are you using, I would re-check it is installed correctly.

That's pretty high considering your only using doing a virus scan.

What CPU cooler do you have?

If its a stock cooler with stock paste then its ok, if not then try reapplying the thermal paste.

Those are really terrible temperatures. My Q6600 at 3.5ghz and 100% load gets to that kind of heat. I didn't realise the stock cooler was so bad.

I would ensure the stock cooler is correctly seated and that all 4 legs are fully engaged.

If they are, then the cooler your linked would be perfect for you.

Even using the stock cooler those temps are very high. I am gaming atm and my Q6600 at 3.7Ghz is only at about 40-42C. I suggest you try and reseat it and make sure there's firm contact with the cpu core (and that you have applied thermal paste sparingly on top).

I have the cooler you linked to and for the money it does a pretty decent job - well worth it.

One last question, I'm currently on an OEM system so can't change the CPU fan speed in the BIOS or using speedfan, Is this due to it been a stock cooler ? and would i be able to change the fan speed with a new Cooler ?

Useless info I suppose cause it's nothing like yours but my Q6600 G0 @ 3.0 with a thermalright ultra 120A maxes out at around 50 degrees for each core.

Even I'm having a temperature problem with my Q6600 G0 cpu. I have temperatures around 35-40 idle and 45 max celcius with water cooling.

I'm using the thermaltake bigwater 760i

Still don't understand why the temps are so high, I was expecting below 28 degrees celcius.

Anyway to drop the temps? bios wise.

How are load temps below 50c a problem? You could drop the temps by investing in a better WC kit - ThermalTake's BigWater kits aren't very good. Also try undervolting the chip, but make sure you stress test it each time.

With a tuniq tower at half speeds and oc'd to 3.2 (1.38v), mine idle at around 45-47 and go upto about 58-60 under load

It's a bit hit and miss really regarding temps, but I don't think mine are helped by the poor surface on my tuniq tower. Don't have a clue how to lap it though so won't risk doing it

It will be replaced by a 9450 soon anyway, so hopefully temps will be slightly lower
