Should i be worried that my Q6600 is idling at 50-55 degrees on a stock intel cooler, as it seems rather high :S

I've just installed one in my new system last weekend and it's sitting at about 35ish. I've got the antac 900 gamers case with all the fans set to low and the stock intel heat sink if that helps.

wouldnt worry about idle temps to much (well unless they are stupidly high) as long as it isnt going much above 70/75c on load.. might want to try reseating it

i have tried reseating it :P is on as tightly as it will allow. I think i may of use some rubbish thermal paste on it though when i put it back on, which isnt helping :/

Your Q6600, is it on stock settings?

I've got mine at 3.6GHz with 1.4v running through it, using a TT120 and a Antec P182 case with all the fans on low, and it will idle at 39c at best in this weather, usually sits around the 40 to 45 mark.

i know aftermarket makes a big difference :P thats why i wish i hadnt lost the bracket for me tuniq lol, will order somin new soon

I might actually get a Thermalright Ultra-120 Extreme nad slap a fan on the side, just dont know which ^^ wanna try overclocking my Q6600 this time without failing misserably

well personally I think the Sharkoon Silent Eagle 2000 are very nice fans had most types of fan and these are certainly my favourite followed by the yate loons.. either of these should see you to 3.6ghz with a TRUE and 1/2 decent Q6600

SNAP !!!!!!!!:D:D;)

what sort of overclock are you trying to achieve and how, try keeping the multi at 9 and upping the fsb and volts accordingly. I assume ure now using a TRUE to cool the quad ?

no i am using a cheap as ocz vanquisher :P When it was on 3.2 it did boot and was 50 degrees on load, which aint exactly hot considering it was that on idle with my intel cooler.

i have a q6600, 1.3250 VID, and its standard load is full load is 55c, however it doesnt really go above 52 playing games,

is that around normal (using an AK-965, which is supposedly slightly better than an arctic freezer)
