I was monitoring my cores today and they seem to be around the 34-45 range when i was just doing downloading on steam, i figured this was okay i think? Then i ran prime95 on the first setting (lighter one). After about 30 seconds ( i think) maybe a bit longer all 4 cores were 80 + with the the 2 cores that are normally higher reaching 92. I quickly turned it p95 off as i got worried. According to coretemp the limit for the cores is 100 until they auto switch off. Anyway i take it this is not normal?

Forgot to mention im using the stock cooler and it has been ok for 2 years but i am abit alarmed with them prime 95 tests.

Stock cooler is useless for overclocking or running cpu intensive programs. You are bound to get temps in the 80/90Cs with prime 95. You must get a very good aftermarket cooler if you want to overclock or run cpu intensive programs.;)

With the stock cooler on my Q6600, it would reach mid-90s doing rendering and things like Prime95. I bought the Megahalems with a 120mm Apache Black fan and I am now sat at 3.2Ghz and all cores are under 60'c, even under IBT and Prime95. I can hit 3.6Ghz but the temps are up in the 80s again.
