Hmm decision time... Is it worth upgrading from Q6600 to the Sandybridge (the more I read the more I'm tempted)? Would it be noticeably quicker - by much? Or is my Q6600 good for a bit longer? Thanks..

Only you can answer that. If it's fast enough, then it's fast enough. If not then it's not.

Does it ever **** you off? What do you use the rig for? Do you think it's the limiting factor? is your case and the rest of your spec up to an upgrade? Have you thought about other options like an SSD?

More info needed...

Nope, not unless you are planning to get SLI GTX 580s or anything like that in the near future :P

I would just wait until socket 2011 or even haswell (sandy bridges replacement) Q6600 is still a competent chip, the only quad i would consider upgrading from would be a phenom 1 with the TLB bug as it performed like a dog.

It depends what applications you use. What games you play. It was worth me upgrading even with my single 5850 because my Q6600 was a bottleneck to my Armed Assault 2 experience. The 2500k provides an infinitely smoother experience. It has also improved the experience in other titles such as Bad Company 2 but I was never really frustrated by the Q6600's performance there. How far have you managed to push your Q6600? Mine would only reach 3.2Ghz due to other system limitations. My Sandy Bridge runs cooler at 4.4Ghz with the tiniest increase over stock Vcore.
